Works on coastal management measures in Doonbeg have been delayed as Clare County Council seek further information on the issue.

Management at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg put forward a bid to the local authority to build a two hundred tonne limestone wall at and adjacent to Carrowmore Dunes, White Strand, Doughmore Bay and Trump International Golf Links and Hotel, Doonbeg.

Clare County Council were due to make a decision on the bid this coming Monday but have announced this evening (Friday) that more time will be required in relation to the 2.8km structure.

An Taisce and The Green Party are opposed to the works in Doonbeg while Eric Trump claimed in his latest visit to the resort that the construction of the wall is essential if the business is to survive.

No date has been provided by Clare County Council in their statement as to when a decision will be made.
