Scarriff Show on this Saturday

The Scarriff Agriculture Show will take place this weekend and will see the return of the popular tug-of-war competition.

A children’s Craft Day will also be held at the event on Saturday where children of all ages can get their arts and craft entries ready (adult supervision required).

As part of the show the organisers will run a Farm Safety Awareness program along with Road Safety Awareness. An Garda Síochána, RSA, FRS will all be in attendance along with various other agencies giving safety talks and demonstrations throughout the day.

There will also be sheep showing classes and to carry on from this, this year will also see Sheep dog demonstration with Rockland Sheep dog, “Rockland Sheep dogs have demonstrated the art of Sheepdog Training at many National shows and Sheep Events all over Ireland including The Tullamore Show, and The International Sheepdog Trials when it was held in Kilkenny and Teagasc National Events. Rockland courses have featured on Ear to the Ground and Nationwide TV programmes.”

This year will see the return of our Tug of War competition, this year our winners will receive Kathleen Mason Perpetual Cup. Tug of War competition is a new attraction on the show day and hopefully will attract participants from all across East Clare.

For the animal lovers, the day will start with the Connemara Show Classes which this year will include various classes from Best Connemara yearling filly/colt to best registered Connemara Stallion all our classes are featured in our Schedule book, so please register entries early.

Showing classes will be held in Mare and Foal ring will also take place on the day again please register your entries early.

The Dog Show will be taking place again classes are featured in our Schedule book.

Clare/Limerick Branch SJI will hold their Tenner League Series on the day for show jumping enthusiast. This will be the part of the league that has being held over the past number of weeks in Crecora Co. Limerick

If a spot of gardening is your thing then get your entries ready for the Flower and Vegetable classes. These classes have been part of the Scarriff Agriculture show for over 72 years, there classes for children, novices and adults.

Most appropriately Dressed Lady, and this year we will be running a Little Miss/Mister competition.

Shoe Chairman Joe O Shaughnessy said: “We are really excited to reveal the competitions and classes for this year’s show and are looking forward to receiving and judging all the entries. Online registration is now open and we encourage everyone to register their entries early to save time on show day. We are hoping for a bumper year of entries.”
