Shannon put a very stylish best foot forward on Tuesday as some of the region’s top fashion houses presented their best wares for the upcoming Christmas season at the airport.

In a throw-back to the famous fashion shows of yesteryear at Shannon, the ‘Fashion on the Runway’ event served as the region’s ultimate and biggest Christmas sartorial shopping guide for both sexes, with items from leading houses from Clare, Limerick and Tipperary gracing the runway. Proceeds from the event will go to the airport’s designated charities.

Models led by one of the region’s most stylish and best known ladies of the sky, Aer Lingus’ Liz Mangan plus Munster and Ireland flanker Tommy O’Donnell gave the large attendance the perfect solution to their Christmas shopping conundrums.

Aisling O’Loughlin, was special guest and presenter on the night. The Shannon native is one of Ireland’s best loved fashion experts and is also the founder/editor of Exquisite.ie.

Fashion shows were a regular feature in the town back in the 1950s with American tour groups treated to the very best of home-grown Irish styles, from Donegal tweeds to the full Aran range.
