Over 800 Poles attend annual celebration in Ennis

More than eight hundred Poles and their Irish friends gathered in Ennis at the weekend for an annual celebration.

In what it is the biggest meeting of the Polish community in the county, The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity was celebrated in The Local on the Newbridge Rd in Ennis.

Visitors from Galway and Limerick also joined in on the celebrations during a full day of music, dance and children’s activities at the annual event. Poles in attendance wore a red heart sticker as a symbol of The Great Orchestra.

Marcin Piotrowski who has lived in Co Clare for a decade was awarded the 2016 Polish Person of the Year. Of Sunday’s gathering, he told The Clare Herald, “Ennis is well known as very active place for Polish community, and many events are organize here, but the one which was organize at last Sunday for sure was the biggest”.
