Clare Youth Theatre will stage a full-scale production of ‘Ballet Shoes’, from the novel of the same name by Noel Streatfeild, at glór on Sunday 2nd April at 7.00 p.m.
Adapted, directed and produced by Megan McLoughlin and Maya Stevens of Clare Youth Theatre, ‘Ballet Shoes’ tells the story of three young sisters in 1920s London who must take to the stage to support their family and a myriad of adventures ensue on their journey of discovery.
Led by artistic directors Eleanor Feely and Clare Townsend, Clare Youth Theatre is an initiative of the Clare Arts Office. The theatre group provides young people interested in acting, writing, directing and producing to take charge of their own projects and perform them for the public.
Clare Youth Theatre members have also recently produced work on the issue of teenage mental health, and performed during the Ennis Book Festival in early March. The group will be hosting a post-show discussion on the creative process involved in the upcoming production of ‘Ballet Shoes’ which may be of interest to teachers and students interested in the arts.
‘Ballet Shoes’ will be performed on Sunday 2nd April in glór at 7.00 p.m. Tickets cost €10 for adults and €5 for children.
