Long service medals for Clare Civil Defence members

Tánaiste and Minister for Defence Micheál Martin TD has presented long service medals to over 100 members of Civil Defence from across the country in a national ceremony in Trinity College Dublin.

The medals were awarded to members for their 30, 40, 50 and even 60 years of service in the Civil Defence

Speaking at the event, the Tánaiste said: “I am delighted to formally honour the long and distinguished years of service of these Civil Defence members. The Civil Defence plays an essential role in so many aspects of daily life, whether responding to search and rescue, flooding or other events.”

Two Clare Civil Defence volunteers were presented with medals. First Officer Brendan Fitzgerald received a 40-year medal and First Officer Shane Moylan was presented with a medal for his 30 years service. Civil Defence Officer for Clare Mr Stevie Hayes also attended the event.

A huge congratulations to both Brendan and Shane for their unwavering commitment and dedication to providing a professional and valued service to the community.
