Ecologist and Botanist, Dr. Janice Fuller will host a free biodiversity walking tour of the 135 acres of woodland at Active Ennis Sports and Amenity Park, Lees Road next Thursday (August 25) at 6.30 p.m.

The free walk is one of 94 Heritage Week events taking place in County Clare and will showcase the trees, plants and animals that inhabit the diverse woodland ecosystem.

Supported by Clare County Council, the event forms part of the ongoing work of delivering a community-focused Biodiversity Action Plan for Ennis by the end of 2016.

Heritage Week 2016 begins today (Saturday) and continues until Sunday 28 August.

It is the fourteenth annual celebration of County Clare’s built, natural and cultural heritage and it is being coordinated locally by Clare County Council and The Heritage Council, with support from Fáilte Ireland and the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht. Heritage Week also is part of European Heritage Days, a joint initiative of the Council of Europe and the European Union.
