Galway International Arts Festival and HotForTheatre have announced that their co-production ‘Luck Just Kissed You Hello’ by Amy Conroy is to tour nationally in November.

The play, which premiered at Galway International Arts Festival in 2015, will run at eight venues around Ireland from November 2016.

Directed by Caitriona McLaughlin and starring Amy Conroy, Mark Fitzgerald and Will O’Connell the play opens in Town Hall Theatre, Galway on 1 November followed by runs in Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Belfast, Donegal and Limerick.

Speaking ahead of the tour, Galway International Arts Festival Artistic Director Paul Fahy said: “Amy Conroy is one of most original younger Irish playwrights working today, writing in a style that demonstrates great intelligence, humour and detail. We were delighted to work with Amy and her company, HotForTheatre on the world premiere production of this show last year, in which she also stars, and are thrilled the production will be seen by a wider audience as it goes on tour.”

Playwright Amy added: “I wrote this show for big cities, for small towns, for farmers, for ballroom dancers, for teachers, for artists, for you. The audience has always been at the heart of my work and now this love affair continues across all four provinces.”

Luck Just Kissed You Hello offers an intriguing premise: how do you say goodbye to your nemesis, your genesis? Laura (Conroy) returns home for the death of her father, but Laura is now Mark. He, along with Gary and Sullivan, must decide on how he is remembered, and they all must find a way to forgive and recognise themselves again.

The ‘Luck Just Kissed You Hello’ national tour begins on 1 November in Galway’s Town Hall Theatre. For more information on tickets and booking, see www.giaf.ie.
