Two men arrested in connection with a collision that occurred in Ennis this week have been released without charge.
On Wednesday night two cars were involved in a road traffic accident at Shiels roundabout on the Gort Road in Ennis. A forty two year old Ennis man who was walking at the time was injured in the accident and is still in a serious condition in hospital.
An off-duty Garda chased two men aged twenty five and nineteen who were fleeing from the scene and the pair were later arrested. They were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
They have since been released from Garda custody without charge. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
No further arrests have been made by the Gardaí.
