Cotter made international headlines when he signed for Limerick FC in August 2015 due to the similarity in looks between him and Brazilian footballer, Neymar. In fact The Clare Herald was one of the first media outlets to make the comparison at the time.

Head Coach, Tom Mohan included the Clare player in his squad for an invitational tournament in La Manga which saw the Boys in Green face Norway, Portugal and Slovakia. They managed to overcome the Portuguese but that was as good as it got.

Mohan used the games to trial out players before the UEFA U19 Championships Elite Qualifying Round which begins in March.

Barry played the entire second half against Norway, received his first start versus Portugal and retained his place for the final game. Having initially starred as a striker in the Clare club scene, Cotter was used as a full-back for the Irish side.

Meanwhile, Colm Walsh O’Loghlen is set to line out for the Irish U18 side as they face Wales in a friendly encounter on Thursday (today). The Ennis winger impressed for the national schools side that welcomed an Australian selection to Dublin last month.
