Love will certainly be on the malls as well as in the air this weekend at SkyCourt Shopping Centre in Shannon when shoppers step onto the red carpet to take romantic selfies of themselves and their loved ones in an intriguing ‘selfie mirror’ being installed for this special celebration.
It’s all part of an exciting day planned for the Centre on Saturday, 11 February between 12noon and 4pm and, it’s all free.
In a new departure for SkyCourt, a dedicated ‘Love Zone’ incorporating the romantic selfie and featuring a Candy Cart filled with 10 choices of shoppers’ favourite sweets and a heart-shaped ‘Ferrero Rocher’ stand, which will be dispensing this popular chocolate, nothing is being spared in spreading that loving feeling, and energising shoppers as they chase away the January blues.
Launching the event, SkyCourt manager Pat Kelly said: “Irish people have been traditionally shy in displaying signs of romance; however, with programmes like Blind Dates on TV, we are witnessing a sea change and inhibitions are being slowly shed.
“In planning our St Valentine’s celebrations, we opted for a ‘fun day’ and are inviting young and old alike, male and female, to come along, take a selfie in the mirror and we will give them a souvenir photo card for the photo”.
Before using the card, couples are encouraged to share their photo on the SkyCourt Facebook to be automatically entered into a draw for a special prize, an overnight stay for two at Bunratty Castle Hotel.
