Shannon Heritage Entertains World’s Top Travel Trade

Shannon Heritage is confident of a boost to its visitor attractions and evening entertainment venue following the company’s recent participation at Meitheal 2017, Ireland’s most important travel trade event.

A troupe of entertainers from the Bunratty Castle Medieval Banquet and Traditional Irish Evening enthralled over 277 overseas tour operators and buyers from 19 countries when they performed for them during the prestigious event.

Held annually the event is organised by Fáilte Ireland, in association with Tourism Ireland and provides a platform for Irish tourism operators to win new contracts and customers for next season and beyond. 

“This is a major platform for the Irish tourism industry allowing them to agreeing future business with the world’s tourism industry. The Entertainer performance was a major opportunity to showcase our visitor attractions and gave excellent exposure to the attraction and to the region as a whole, “said Marie Slattery, Head of Marketing, Shannon Group.


Chief Reporter Pat Flynn has worked as a journalist for almost 30 years. His career began during the late 1980s when, like many aspiring radio presenters of the time, he worked for local pirate radio stations in Clare and Limerick.

Pat joined Clare FM in 1990 where he worked as researcher initially and later presented several different programmes including the station’s flagship current affairs programme.

He was also the station’s News Editor and Deputy Controller of Programmes. Despite leaving in 2003 to pursue a career as a freelance journalist, he continues to work with the station to this day.

As well as being the Clare Herald’s Chief Reporter Pat is also freelance journalist and broadcaster, contributing to Ireland’s national newspapers and is a regular contributor to national broadcasters.
