Man arrested in Bunratty drugs seizure

A man has been arrested after gardaí recovered drugs from a car they stopped in Bunratty this evening.

Officers from the Divisional Drug Unit, based in Ennis, stopped a car in Bunratty shortly after 7pm.

During the course of searching the vehicle, gardaí discovered cannabis herb with an estimated street value, pending analysis, of €5,000. The driver, a man aged 39, was arrested and taken to Ennis garda station for questioning.

The man is being detained under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

Chief Reporter Pat Flynn has worked as a journalist for almost 30 years. His career began during the late 1980s when, like many aspiring radio presenters of the time, he worked for local pirate radio stations in Clare and Limerick.
