€90k of herbal cannabis seized at Shannon Airport

Revenue officers based at Shannon Airport seized a quantity of drugs during routine operations on Friday.

4.5kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €90,000 concealed in a parcel labelled as ‘clothing’.

The package had originated from Spain and was destined for an address in County Carlow.

A spokesman for Revenue’s custom service has confirmed that investigations are ongoing.

Revenue has also advised businesses or members of the public who have any information regarding drug smuggling, that they can contact Revenue in confidence on Confidential Phone Number 1800 295 295.
