HPV advocate Laura Brennan has been working with the World Health Organization to prepare this video to mark World Cancer Day. It is being released across Europe today to encourage parents to get the facts and get the vaccine. HPV advocate Laura Brennan from Ennis has been working with the World Health Organization to prepare this video to mark World Cancer Day.

The 26-year-old, who has been named Clare Person of the Year 2019 by the Clare Association in Dublin, was diagnosed with terminal cervical cancer in 2017 and has been working with the HSE to promote the HPV vaccine.

The video is being released across Europe today, World Cancer Day to encourage parents to get the facts and get the vaccine. The second dose of the HPV vaccine will be offered to girls in second level schools in March and April. #ProtectOurFuture #OurHealthService

Chief Reporter Pat Flynn has worked as a journalist for almost 30 years. His career began during the late 1980s when, like many aspiring radio presenters of the time, he worked for local pirate radio stations in Clare and Limerick. Pat joined Clare FM in 1990 where he worked as researcher initially and later presented several different programmes including the station's flagship current affairs programme. He was also the station's News Editor and Deputy Controller of Programmes. Despite leaving in 2003 to pursue a career as a freelance journalist, he continues to work with the station to this day.
