One person has been taken to hospital following a single-vehicle collision near Ennis this afternoon.

The Citroen car was travelling along a country road at Kilfeilim between the main Ennis to Tulla R352 route and Knockanean.

It’s understood the driver lost control of his car before colliding with a ditch. The crash happened at around 5.00pm and involved no other vehicle while there were no other persons in the car.

Three units of the fire brigade, an ambulance and rapid response advanced paramedic attended the incident along with Gardaí.

The man was treated at the scene before being removed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. The man’s injuries are not believed to be serious.

The road remained blocked for over an hour while emergency services dealt with the incident and the scene was cleared.
