Gardaí have uncovered a ‘significant grow house’ and arrested a woman following an operation intelligence led operation in East Clare.

A search of a premises at Tinerana near Killaloe was carried out earlier today involving members of the Clare Divisional Drugs Unit, supported by local uniform and plainclothes Gardaí, the Western Region Armed Support Unit and the Cork Garda Dog Unit.

Gardaí have confirmed that a significant grow house has been discovered with the evidence of the production of Cannabis at all stages (nursery, mature plants, dried plants).

According to Gardaí: “At this time, a large number of plants with an estimated street value of €900,000 pending analysis.”

A female (early 20s), non-Irish national, has been arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Ennis Garda Station under section 4 Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

ESB engineers attended the scene to make the area safe for Gardaí. A wall covered in electrical plug boards and transformers had to be made safe before Gardaí could complete their examination of the area.

The search and investigations remain ongoing.
