One person has been taken to hospital following a single-vehicle collision near Tulla this afternoon.
The incident occurred at around 4.30pm at Kilbogoon on the main Ennis to Scariff R352 road.
The car was left lying on its side on the roadway after mounting a ditch and rolling over. The car was travelling east from the Tulla direction at the time.
It’s understood that a woman, the only occupant of the car, managed to climb through the shattered windscreen of the vehicle and was helped by passers-by. One motorist reported that another person was supporting the driver’s head as she lay on the ground waiting for emergency services to arrive.
Two ambulances responded to the incident initially and were followed a short time later by units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis and Scariff stations and Gardaí.
Fire crews implemented an emergency traffic management plan in an effort to keep traffic moving while National Ambulance Service paramedics assessed and treated the woman.
She was removed by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment. Her injuries are not believed to be serious.
Gardaí from Tulla are investigating the collision.
