We know, according to the most recent statistics available to us, that there are approximately 5,745 people in County Clare who are living with vision impairment or blindness.

Our national conference for people with sight loss, which will welcome people from all over the country, takes place in the Radisson Blu Hotel in Dublin, on Saturday November 16th.

It is a rare opportunity to quiz leading vision experts about eye conditions and for attendees to gain support from others in a similar situation to themselves.

Retina 2019, part of Science Week Ireland, is an international gathering of researchers and clinicians from all over the world. It provides a valuable opportunity to share knowledge on global research efforts and technologies to find treatments and cures for a wide range of conditions causing vision impairment and blindness.

The conference will be opened by Fighting Blindness ambassador and leading international actor, Victoria Smurfit. It will feature sessions on more than 20 rare conditions including retinitis pigmentosa, diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, glaucoma and many more.

People interested in attending can register at retina.ie.
