Clare Ladies begin Munster campaign

Clare begin their Munster Intermediate Ladies Football campaign on Saturday as they take on Limerick.

Kilmihill is the venue where the opening round of the Munster Championship throws-in at 2pm. Clare come into this game on the back of a strong League campaign which saw them knocked out in the semi-finals by Westmeath.

They played in the Intermediate Championship last year for the first time since 2009 when they went on to win the All-Ireland title. In their 2015 Munster bid, Clare were defeated by Waterford who went on to win the national title and are now playing at Senior level.

Managed by Neil Moynihan, Clare will be tipped to overcome the Limerick challenge and will be looking to the likes of Niamh O’Dea, Laurie Ryan, Louise Henchy and Niamh Keane to pick up the all-important win.

Clare’s U14 side are in Munster Final action, they take on Waterford at 1pm on Saturday in Mallow. The girls will be boosted by their recent success in winning the Division 3 All-Ireland ladies blitz.

Meanwhile three of Clare’s Senior team were selected on the Lidl Division 2 Team of the League. Louise Henchy, Niamh O’Dea and Niamh Keane were all named on the team.
