Inagh-Kilnamona overwhelmed Kilmaley in an unpleasant inclement evening in Clooney this Sunday to get their campaign off to the perfect start in the PK Travel Clare Senior Camogie Championship.

Close rivals who both fancy themselves to reach the latter stages of the competition craved to open their account on a winning start but it was a dominant Inamona outfit that did just that. Ailish Considine starred for her side scoring 1-06 for Kilmaley although her high-quality performance was bettered by a bullish Inagh-Kilnamona team.

Both sides were littered with inter-county players and it was evident with amusing hurling for spectators to enjoy. The weather did influence the match with only nine scores transpiring in the opening half, five of them coming from placed balls.

In the second half, Inagh-Kilnamona got off to the ideal start when Helen Hehir’s low driven effort was hammered past the defenceless Denise Lynch. Good things always come in pairs and Aoife Keane snatched her side’s second goal one minute later. Kilmaley had a mountain to climb and a massive breeze to face into but tagged on 1-2 through Considine.

Keating didn’t want to be over shadowed by the opposite number 14 and scored two quick goals to wrap up the victory for Margaret Lafferety’s team.

The Combo provided a watering performance and it was a flawless team effort. Stand-out performers for the triumphant side today were Tara and Laura Rynne, Aoife Keane, Siobhan Lafferty and the Keating sisters. In contrast Sinead O’Keefe, Eimear and Ailish Conisidine fought hard for Kilmaley.
