Action resumed this evening in the Maloney Garden Machinery Premier Division.
Shannon Town made it two wins from two as they struck a last minute goal to defeat Avenue Utd 4-3. Colin Scanlon hit two goals for the Shannon men while Chris Lake and Sean Burke chipped in with one each.
Reigning champions Newmarket Celtic returned to winning ways. They put five goals past Shannon Olympic in their first home encounter of the year. David McCarthy netted twice for Celtic with Cathal Hayes, Seamie Lawlor and new signing Tino Nzvaura also contributing on the scoresheet.
Cian O’Dea scored two goals for Sporting Ennistymon against his former club Corofin Harps to give the Ennistymon club their first win of the season. It finished 3-1 in their favour with Pat Connolle registering Corofin’s only goal.
Tulla Utd received a much needed lift with a 1-0 victory over Bridge Celtic who had beaten Newmarket Celtic at the weekend.
As it stands Shannon Town are top of the League with six points. They are followed by Sporting Ennistymon in second place on four points. Bridge Utd, Newmarket Celtic, Corofin Harps, Tulla Utd all have three points. At the bottom of the table Shannon Olympic have one point while Avenue Utd are yet to put a point on the board in two games while Ennis Town have only played a single game in which they lost to Corofin.
