The sessions will be led by Elle Marie O’Dwyer and John Flanagan. Elle, from Cork, has just completed her MA in the Irish World Music Academy. John, originally from Corofin, is now based in Galway and has years of experience in traditional singing.

County Arts Officer SiobhĆ”n Mulcahy explained ā€œThe Circle gives participants an opportunity to meet like-minded young people and to share songs and ideas in a fun environment. With the support of glĆ³r, we are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to young people. The social aspect of traditional singing is vital to the further development of the tradition.ā€

Ms. Mulcahy continued, ā€œOffering young people the opportunity to sing in such a lovely space will bring an added dimension for the children and a further dynamic to our singing programme which is currently being rolled out in over 30 schools throughout the county. No experience is necessary and all are welcome to join in.ā€

Additional singing circles will take place on Saturday November 5th, Saturday November 19th, Saturday December 3rd and Saturday, December 17th.
