Clare have discovered their opponents for the 2017 Munster Championships.

Donal Moloney and Gerry O’Connor will begin their provincial campaign in charge of the Clare Senior Hurlers with a semi-final tie against Limerick. The Banner County have not won a Munster SHC title since 1998. It pits the duo against newly appointed Limerick coach Paul Kinnerk who worked alongside Donal and Gerry as trainer to the three-in-a-row All-Ireland winning U21 side.

Colm Collins and the Clare Senior Footballers will play Limerick in a repeat of last year’s quarter-final. The winner will advance to play Kerry in the last four.

Sixmilebridge man Davy Fitzgerald’s first game as Wexford manager in the championship will see them come up against one of the advancing teams from the round robin phase of the Leinster championship. A win for Davy’s side would see them play Kilkenny in the last four.

Meanwhile Bodyke’s Sean Doyle has been appointed as manager of the Clare Minor Hurlers. His management team is to include former senior boss Cyril Lyons and Gerry McIntyre. Broadford’s Aonghus O’Brien a coach under Davy Fitzgerald with the County in 2016 is linked to take on a similar role with the minors.

Nominations are being accepted until Monday October 24th by clubs for the position of U21 hurling manager. Since Donal Moloney’s appointment to the senior job last week the role has been vacant. No candidates have yet to be announced.
