Man due in court following Ennis firearm incident

A man in his 20s is due to appear before Limerick District Court this morning charged in connection with the unlawful discharge of a firearm during an incident in Ennis, Co. Clare.

On Friday last, shortly after 10.00pm, Gardaí responded to reports of gunshots outside a residential property on Lahinch Road, Ennis. Damage was caused to the property, but no one was injured.

A male in his 40s was arrested and detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939. He was later released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

During follow-up inquiries, a second male aged in his 20s was subsequently arrested and detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939, at a Garda station in County Clare. He has since been charged.

Gardaí say the investigation is ongoing.
