There are reports this evening that a person has been injured while caving in North Clare.
Details of the incident are vague however it’s understood that a male has suffered a leg injury after falling while caving near Fanore.
It’s understood that cave rescue personnel were deployed to the scene at around 6.00pm and that efforts are underway to reach the casualty. The Irish Cave Rescue Organisation (ICRO) has members based in Clare and it’s understood they have been alerted and mobilised.
The exact location of the cave is not known.
It is known however that the annual Speleological Union of Ireland (SUICRO) symposium is taking place in Doolin this weekend however it’s not clear whether this caving expedition is linked with that event.
