Gardaí investigating fatal road traffic collision in Kilmurry

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision at Kilmurry, Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the collision, involving a pedestrian and a tractor that occurred shortly after 10.15am on the L7006 a short distance from Kilmurry Village.

The pedestrian, a male aged in his 60’s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body has been conveyed to University Hospital Limerick.  The Coroner has been informed and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Gardaí and National Ambulance Service paramedics responded to the scene along with units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Shannon station. Additional fire crews were dispatched from Ennis station but were later stood down.

The road where the collision occurred is currently closed from its junction with the R462 Kilkishen to Kilmurry road. The road will remained closed while a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators to take place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 10am and 10.15am this morning, Saturday 21st June, 2025 are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
