A number of people have been transported to hospital following a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Ennis this afternoon.
The two-car head-on crash occurred at around 4.15pm on the N85 Ennis to Ennistymon road at Claureen, near the turn off for Woodstock. The incident involved a private car and a taxi.
National Ambulance Service paramedics, Gardaí and units of Clare County Fire and Rescue Service from Ennis station responded to the scene.
Three people were assessed by paramedics at the scene and were later transported to hospital as a precaution. It’s understood that no serious injuries have been reported.
Fire crews implemented an emergency traffic management system and were able to keep one lane open.
Once the vehicles involved in the incident had been removed and the road cleared of debris, the route was fully reopened at 5.40pm.
