An elderly woman is recovering in hospital after she was injured in a fall near Doonbeg this afternoon.
The alarm was raised shortly after 3.00pm when emergency services received a reported that a person had suffered a fall on rocks at White Strand, Doonbeg.
The local lifeguard responded to the incident and remained with the casualty until National Ambulance Service paramedics and volunteers from the Kilkee unit of the Irish Coast Guard arrived.
Ambulance paramedics treated and stabilised the woman before Coast Guard personnel assisted with recovering the casualty from the location. The woman was stretchered from the beach to the waiting ambulance.
The woman, understood to have sustained a leg injury, was transported by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.
