Passengers are choosing more treats than tricks this October Bank Holiday with over 46,000 people expected to travel through Shannon Airport, heading to destinations across the UK, Europe, and the US.
This marks a 9% increase compared to the same period last year, continuing the airport’s strong upward trend in passenger growth throughout 2025.
The end of October also signals the launch of Shannon Airport’s winter schedule, which this year features three exciting new Ryanair routes and increased frequency on six existing popular services.
Highlights of the weekend include the inaugural flight to Lapland on Bank Holiday Monday, 27th October – perfect for some early Christmas magic. The following day, Tuesday 28th October, sees the first flight to Madrid, offering passengers a sunny escape to the Spanish capital. For those enchanted by the Portuguese island of Madeira over the summer, the new year-round service now makes winter visits possible.
Shannon Airport will offer over 220 weekly flights to 24 destinations. Travellers can choose from a wide range of options including Aer Lingus routes to New York, Boston and Paris, and Ryanair services to Lanzarote, Liverpool, Malaga, Manchester, and many more.
Commenting on the busy Bank Holiday ahead, Airport Director of Shannon Airport, Niall Kearns said: “We’ve had a fantastic start to 2025 and an exceptionally busy summer, so it’s great to see that momentum continue into the Halloween Bank Holiday. Achieving a 9% increase in passenger numbers compared to the same period last year is a strong indicator of the confidence travellers have in Shannon Airport as we roll out our winter schedule.”
Our team is ready to make sure that every passenger has a hassle-free start to their journey. We’re especially excited to welcome those flying to Lapland – hopefully they’ll put in a good word for us with Santa!”
Passengers are encouraged to download the Shannon Airport App and pre-book parking for the best rates and availability.
