A motorist with three outstanding bench warrants has been arrested by Gardaí after being detected at a checkpoint in East Clare.
Gardaí attached to Killaloe station were conducting a speed checkpoint in the Scariff area when a vehicle, which wasn’t speeding, was detected by members.
A check of the car on the Garda Mobility App indicated that the driver might not have had insurance. The driver was stopped a short time later in the Mountshannon area.
The driver was stopped and spoken to and upon further investigation it was established that there were three outstanding bench warrants for the individual. The driver was arrested for Road Traffic offences and in relation to the bench warrants.
The motorist was found to have been disqualified from driving and had no insurance or driving licence. The car was also seized.
The driver is currently in Garda custody awaiting a court appearance.
