The Cliffs of Moher have been named Ireland’s second-most Instagrammable destination, according to new research.
The study, from Virgin Media Ireland, reviewed the number of tagged Instagram posts linked to well-known tourist spots across the country. With 785,253 hashtags, it stood out as not only Clare’s most photographed location, but also one of Ireland’s most-shared scenic sites.
The Cliffs of Moher ranked second in the national rankings with nearly 800k hashtags.
Known for its rugged cliffs and panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, the location continues to attract visitors keen to capture and share its standout scenery.
Other well-loved locations in Clare also performed strongly, including Lahinch with 80,200 hashtags, followed by The Burren, Bunratty Castle and Loop Head Lighthouse.
A Virgin Media Ireland spokesperson said: “From the wild beauty of Connemara to the lively energy of Temple Bar, Ireland’s most iconic spots are giving visitors every excuse to pull out their phones. These results show how eager we are to capture and share those wow-moments, and with scenery like this it is no surprise.”
