Met Éireann issues Status Yellow High Temperature warning

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow High Temperature warning after earlier publishing a related Weather Advisory.

Forecasters are warning of maximum temperatures in excess of 27 degrees (C) combined with night-time minima in excess of 15°C expected.

Potential impacts include:

  • Water safety issues due to increased use of lakes/beaches
  • Uncomfortable sleeping conditions
  • Heat stress

The warning will be valid from midday on Tuesday (23/06/2026) until 9:00am on Friday (26/06/2026)

Earlier, Met Éireann issued a Weather Advisory stating: “Exceptionally warm weather will occur over Ireland this week. Daytime temperatures will exceed 25 degrees, with temperatures possibly reaching 30 degrees on Thursday.

Very mild, humid and possibly uncomfortable at night as temperatures will generally stay above 15 degrees. Thunderstorms are possible also, particularly on Thursday.
