A woman has been transported to hospital for treatment after she was injured in a fall in North Clare this afternoon.
The alarm was raised shortly after 3.00pm when Clare County Council lifeguards were alerted to an incident at Fanore Beach. The National Ambulance Service and Irish Coast Guard were promptly notified.
It’s understood that the woman suffered a fall as she made her way to the beach and sustained a lower leg injury.
Lifeguards based at Fanore cared for the woman until emergency services arrived and assisted Doolin Coast Guard volunteers with recovering the casualty to the lifeguard station.
On arrival at the scene, the injured woman was handed into the care of ambulance paramedics. They assessed and treated the woman at the scene before transporting her to hospital for further care. It’s understood the woman suffered an ankle injury.
