Ennis Players will return of their hugely popular Supper Theatre, for five nights from Monday 23rd to Friday 27th November 2026 at The Old Ground Hotel, Ennis.
A firm favourite in the local calendar, Supper Theatre has sold out year after year, and audiences are advised to book early.
The evening offers the perfect combination of fine drama and good food in the cosy setting of The Old Ground. The programme includes two 1-act plays, a short ‘pint-sized play’ and the evening is rounded off with a buffet supper.
“We are absolutely delighted to be continuing with Supper Theatre again this year. It would not be possible without the loyalty of our audiences, the dedication of our casts and crews, and the wonderful partnership we enjoy with The Old Ground Hotel, for which we are enormously grateful” – Kieran Martin, Chairman, Ennis Players.
Ennis Players are very appreciative of all our wonderful Patrons without whom we could not bring our productions to the community.
This year’s programme includes a never-seen-before production and features plenty of Irish writing.
First up will be the premier of a 1-Act play, SECRETS, based in a counsellor’s therapy room.
SECRETS by Elaine Birkett is directed by Michelle Kelly. The cast includes Róisín Mee playing Dr Tessa Cooney and Natalie Killeen playing Cecilia Moran. This is the premier of Secrets, however author, Elaine is no stranger to playwriting having written several plays for the 1-Act festival circuit. Her pervious works include Bloodties which qualified for the All-Ireland finals in 2023 and Wildling which won the Finals in 2025.
A BIOLOGY LESSON is a short 10min piece which won the recent Pint-sized play competition run by Oakhill Players and was first performed in August 2026 in Cultúrlann Sweeney, Kilkee along with the other 12 competition entries. A BIOLOGY LESSON by Sean Ahern, is directed by Geraldine Greene. The two characters are Pat played by Mick Loughnane and Maura played by Bernie Harten.
The final production of the night is DADA by Frank Houlihan, directed by Bernie Harten, a hilariously dark comedy.
“Frank Houlihan has a wealth of theatrical experience and runs his own amateur theatrical company; Hy-Breasal Players. Frank has been writing for theatre for a number of years and his play, Dada won the coveted DLI/ADCI Playwriting competition in 2024. Previous plays, Centipede and Rolling Stone were runners-up in the competition in 2020 and 2023 respectively. We are thoroughly enjoying rehearsing this hilariously dark comedy and look forward to showcasing it to Supper Theatre audiences” – Bernie Harten, Director.
Kate Clohessy, Ethel O’Mahony, Jackie Scanlan, Olivia Loughnane and Jim Moroney make up the cast of DADA where Jim will be making his debut with the Ennis Players.
