Newly appointed IDA Ireland business and relationship manager for the Mid-West region, Niall O’Callaghan will address a business lunch in Dromoland Castle Hotel next Tuesday.
Shannon Chamber organised the event as they are conscious that Shannon and the greater Mid-West region faces competition at national and international levels for new inward investment projects.
The purpose of the lunch, which is being sponsored by Shannon Commercial Properties, is to outline how the Mid-West region fares as an international investment location and how IDA Ireland works towards securing and retaining investment for regions within Ireland.
Speaking ahead of the event, Shannon Chamber chief executive Helen Downes said: “IDA Ireland’s success is measured by the impact on the Irish economy of foreign direct investments (FDI) and IDA-supported companies. This region’s economy has benefited greatly from the return emanating from the one hundred plus companies operating from the Shannon Free Zone, which boasts the largest concentration of FDI in any one location in Ireland, outside Dublin”.
She added “World renowned companies, such as Intel, GECAS, Axa Insurance, Element Six, Lufthansa Technik, Zimmer Biomet, Johnson & Johnson, Analog Devices and Cook Medical may already have chosen to locate in this region but the future lies in expanding this existing cohort of companies and attracting new sectors and technologies”.
Downes concluded “We are looking forward to hearing how IDA Ireland works to attract and sustain investment at national and regional levels and to how we, as a Chamber, and our member companies, can collectively assist Niall O’Callaghan and his Limerick-based team to win a greater share of investment for the Mid-West.”
