A fund generated during the funeral mass and removal of the late David McMahon is to go towards the services that helped in a search to find his remains.

Donations collected at David’s removal and funeral mass reached a total of €6,525. This money has now been lodged to the David Mc Mahon Memorial Fund account. Family and friends are currently liaising with representatives from various bodies to create a specific target for donation and details have yet to be finalised.

Family and friends of the schoolteacher as a token of appreciation and gratitude have decided to put the money towards the volunteer services that helped in the search to find his body.

“The search for David last month brought home to us in a way that we could never have understood before the importance of first responders and the crucial work carried out by incredibly brave and selfless volunteers when families of missing persons are at their lowest ebb. In the aftermath of our devastating loss we resolved to do our best to help these volunteers in some small way to continue with these efforts” a representative for the family said.

“All donations are welcome and all money added to this account will go to the aid of the services that helped us so much during our darkest days”.

They are determined his memory will live on and will help other families in the future. “As his family and friends, we are determined to make sure that David’s memory lives on and work in his name will help so many other families in days to come”.
