There is a large Clare involvement for the various management teams with the third level institutes in Limerick for the coming season.
Former Clare senior hurling manager and recently appointed Wexford boss Davy Fitzgerald is to continue in charge of the Limerick Institute of Technology’s Fitzgibbon Cup hurlers for a fifteenth season. The Sixmilebridge man will be joined by Clonlara’s Jimmy Browne who is also the institute’s Vice President, Cyril Farrell and Pat Bennett.
Brian Lohan is to remain in charge of the University of Limerick Fitzgibbon side for a fifth season. He led them to glory in the competition in 2015. The four time All-Star is work alongside Limerick’s James Moran and 2003 Clarecastle county championship winning captain Ken Ralph.
Anthony Daly is to continue as manager of the UL Freshers hurling team. Reigning Fitzgibbon Cup champions Mary Immaculate College have a new boss as they aim to retain the title, Éamonn Cregan resigned after they claimed the title for the first time in their history, he has been replaced by Jamie Wall a member of the MIC panel when that contested the 2013 final.
A member of the Clare senior football panel for sixteen years, Ger Quinlan will be a selector with the UL Sigerson Cup team. The side will be managed by Brian Carson.
Current St Josephs Miltown manager Michael Neylon will be teaming up with Adare brothers Stephen and David Lavin as they take charge of the UL Freshers Football team.
All-Ireland winner with the Clare junior camogie team in 2008, Laura Linnane is once more part of the management team with the UL Ashbourne camogie team. The side will be managed by Tipperary’s Dinny Ryan who was coach with the O’Callaghans Mills senior hurlers in 2015.
Sixmilebridge’s David Carroll is taking responsibility for the camogie in LIT.
League competitions are currently underway for the college sides with draws yet to be made for the cup competitions.
