Ennis Macra take part in National Indoor Soccer Competition

Ennis Macra na Feirme took part in the National Dairy Council All Ireland Indoor Soccer competition recently in Gormanstown College, Co. Meath.

They defeated Ballinagore Macra from Co. Westmeath but lost out to eventual winners Togher Macra from Louth 1-0.

Kilkenny Macra team were crowned All Ireland Indoor Women’s Soccer Champions. They edged out Awbeg Macra from Cork in a tense final. Thirty one teams battled it out in the Men’s and Women’s competitions for the titles.

Togher Macra triumphed in the Men’s competition. Macra na Feirme National President, Seán Finan, said “It was another fantastic competition that showed the enthusiasm and athletic skill of our Macra clubs. Special thanks to the National Dairy Council for their continued support of this extremely popular competition.

Chairman of Ennis Macra, Cillian Griffey stated “It was a great achievement not alone to have been crowned Clare champions but represent the county in the national competition. Our team played with great passion and determination and most of all enjoyed the event”.
