One man is being treated in hospital following a collision between a car and van near Cratloe this afternoon.
The incident occurred at around 2.30pm on the R462 road that links the N18 with Cratloe and Sixmilebridge.
The driver of the van was hospitalised with what Gardaí have confirmed are ‘minor injuries’.
The driver of the car was injured. He was assessed at the scene by ambulance paramedics but didn’t travel to hospital.
Four units of the fire service from Shannon along with two ambulances and several Garda patrols responded to the incident.
Firefighters had to cut the driver’s door off the van to safely remove the injured man.
A 500m stretch of the road was closed while emergency services dealt with the collision in poor weather conditions.
The driver is recovering at University Hospital Limerick.
