St Flannan’s College women’s football teams are hoping for a turbo boost for the rest of the season, having secured the backing of Shannon Airport.

The teams have got off to a great start this year following their recent successes at the Munster Football Finals, winning the Munster Junior C and Munster Senior C ladies titles.

This is the first time the school has completed the double at this level, with the Seniors beating Dungarvan on January 31st on a scoreline of 4.15 to 4.12, while the Juniors beat Kenmare on February 6th on a scoreline of 4.6 to 2.8.

Thanks to the airport’s jersey sponsorship the teams are hoping the backing will give the sides further wings as the Juniors will now proceed to the All-Ireland semi-final v’s Claregalway at 1.00pm on March 14th in Gort GAA Grounds.

“We are extremely grateful for the generous sponsorship given to the St. Flannan’s College Ladies Football teams. We are privileged to be associated with Shannon Airport and our girls are delighted that such a successful organisation has shown an interest in their fantastic achievements and the sponsorship really supports the efforts being made by all involved with the teams,” said Emer Murphy, team trainer and Teacher at St. Flannan’s College.

Welcoming the sponsorship Gary Brennan, sports star and teacher at St. Flannan’s College, Ennis said: “I have seen first-hand just how important Shannon Airport is to this region and the all-round contribution it makes so we are delighted to be associated with the airport.”

Mary Considine, Deputy Chief Executive, Shannon Group said the airport was “delighted” to support the both teams and congratulated them on their marvellous achievements this year.

“We are delighted to support St. Flannan’s College Ladies Junior & Senior football teams,” she said. “Their girls commitment and determination on and off the field, under the stewardship of their dedicated teachers Emer Murphy, Philip Ryan and Máire Eibhlín Ní Chlochartaigh and Gary Brennan, is to be admired and we are glad to be associated with them”
