A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital on Thursday morning after he sustained serious injuries in a collision in Miltown Malbay.
The Shannon-based Irish Coast Guard helicopter, Rescue 115, was called into action in an air ambulance role to transport the casualty.
The Doolin unit of the Coast Guard was also requested to assist by preparing and securing a safe landing site for the helicopter.
The incident happened at around 9.45am on the Ennis Road.
An ambulance and Gardaí from Ennistymon also attended the scene.
The patient was stabilised at the scene before being transported by road to the local GAA field where the helicopter was waiting to airlift the man to University Hospital Limerick where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Gardaí are investigating the incident.
