A very big slice of American retro will unfold at Shannon Airport over two days on April 21st and 22nd as the world’s biggest Drive-In LED screen movie experience comes to the airport campus.
Flip-tops may be in short supply but there’ll be plenty of other timeless Drive-In ingredients, such as Burgers, hot dogs, soda, pizza, popcorn, chips & dips and, most of all, classic movies.
Thousands are expected to attend over the weekend to see cult classics such as: Dirty Dancing; Back to the Future, E.T and Jaws as well as much loved kids classics Planes and Up.
They will be shown on the biggest LED screen in the world with sound coming via car radios.
Isabel Harrison, B2B Manager – Aviation Development at Shannon Airport said: “Shannon Airport has always been synonymous with firsts, so we are delighted to be the first airport in the world to host Retro Drive-in movies, for what promises to be a fun filled weekend.”
Ryan O’ Neill, CEO of Retro Drive-in Movies added: “Shannon Airport was the first gateway to the US from Ireland so we felt it was fitting to bring what is very much an American experience to Shannon by way of our Drive-In movies. There is a really special atmosphere on the night as people get to sample something we grew up watching on TV but never really had the opportunity to try.”
Tickets for Retro Drive-in Movies @ Shannon Airport, in association with Spin South West, cost €29.90 per car (plus booking fee) and are on sale at www.retrodrivein.ie
