Ennis based B. Molloy Master Butchers, has once again been recognised among Ireland’s finest artisan food producers after receiving three Great Taste Awards.
The judges awarded Molloy’s Traditional Sweet Cure Ham a 2-Star Award with 1-Star Awards for both their Dry Aged T-Bone Steak from their own farm in Quin and their locally sourced Rack of Clare Lamb.
Master Butcher Derek Molloy said “We’re absolutely delighted to receive recognition for three very different products. It reflects the consistency, hard work and pride our team brings every day. We remain committed to supporting local farmers and providing our customers with the very best quality meats.” The awards continue the family’s long tradition of producing premium quality meats sourced from trusted local farmers and prepared using traditional butchery skills.
Molloy Master Butchers follows traditional practices in every aspect of their work. They raise their beef on the Bord Bia Quality Assured family farm in Quin, process their beef and lamb locally, and use traditional methods of maturing beef and lamb on the bone, which intensifies the flavours and enhances the tenderness of the meat.
Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, the Great Taste Awards are recognised internationally as one of the world’s most respected food accreditation schemes, with products blind tasted by expert judges purely on flavour and quality.
Out of all this year’s entries, only 4,286 (28.50%) received a 1-star award, deeming them ‘simply delicious’, 1,596 (10.61%) received a 2-star award, which means the judges felt they were ‘outstanding’, and 306 (2.03%) received the highly coveted ‘exquisite and extraordinary’ 3-star award.
