X-PO’s next heritage event will take place on Thursday March 27th at 8.00pm with a screening of a recently made film entitled “Máire Rua A Woman of her Time” about the remarkable medieval Clare woman.
The film was made by Ristéard Ua Cróinín who will present the film. He will also give a short talk on Máire Rua after the screening and participate in a Q and A.
The 25 minute long film has a particular focus on the various castles that Máire was associated with – including Dysert, Dromoland, Leamaneh and Ballynagowan at Smithstown.
Ristéard is former Conservation Officer with Clare County Council. He and Martin Breen published their comprehensive study of the castles of Co Clare in 2015 via the National Monuments Service.
The event is free of charge. Donations to X-PO welcome.
X-PO is a community hub based in the former post office in Killinaboy, North Clare. A wide range of social and cultural events take place at the venue.
