Students’ ‘Museum of Self’ exhibition at Clare Museum

An exhibition showcasing personal stories and creative works by students from St Aidan’s National School, Shannon, will be on display at Clare Museum, Ennis, from October 13 to November 3, 2026.

Presented by Creative Places Shannon and the Clare Arts Office in conjunction with Clare Museum, the exhibition, ‘Museum of Self’, features a collection of miniature museums created by students from St Aidan’s National School.

As part of the project, Creative Places Shannon commissioned artist Ana Colomer to work closely with the students in developing the exhibition. To support their understanding of museum collections and storytelling, students participated in an information session with John Rattigan, Curator of Clare Museum, and Carole Glynn of the Shannon Archaeological and Historical Society.

Students then worked with Ana Colomer to create miniature museums that reflected their own lives, the lives of loved ones, and personal stories important to them. The completed works were originally displayed in Shannon and are now being exhibited at Clare Museum, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the creativity, memories and experiences captured by the students.

The collaborative project was funded by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport through its Commemorations Fund.
