The show is returning for its fourth season and Clare families are being encouraged to apply for the chance to compete to claim the title of Ireland’s Fittest Family and to win €15,000.

Producers say they are looking for the country’s fittest, fastest and strongest family to enter what they call the most exciting and extreme fitness competition.

Last year Davy Fitzgerald was coach of the winning family the O’Brien Devines. One of the family members, Tom Devine will come up against Fitzgerald next weekend as he is part of the Waterford team that play Clare in the Munster Hurling semi-final.

Fitzgerald told The Clare Herald that he has every intention of being the winning coach again this year. “Having been with Ireland’s Fittest Family since the beginning, it’s a competition that I really believe in. The families throw themselves into the challenges and are hugely competitive.

“Coaching the winning family to victory last year was an amazing feeling but this year I intend to do it all again. The other coaches have their work cut out for them as I have my eye on the prize”.

Closing date for applications is Monday May 31st. To apply click here.
