Shannon businessman to run for 50 days across Australia

Six West Aviation founder and record-breaking ultra-endurance athlete Jason Williamson is set to push the limits of human endurance as he announces an extraordinary attempt to run 4,000 km across Australia.

Over the course of 50 days, Jason will run from Perth in Western Australia to Port Macquarie in New South Wales, covering an average of two marathons per day, battling extreme conditions and testing the boundaries of physical and mental resilience all in celebration of his 50th birthday this year.

Following his record-breaking fastest known time for completing The Ireland Way (1,038km) in June 2023, Jason now takes on his most ambitious challenge yet. Supported by a dedicated crew traveling across Australia in campervans, he will navigate the harsh terrain and unpredictable climate of the Australian outback, documenting his journey with daily social media updates and press appearances.

“This challenge is about pushing beyond limits, embracing the struggle and proving what’s possible with the right mindset and determination,” said Jason Williamson. “Australia’s vast landscape presents the ultimate test of body and mind, and I’m ready to take it on.”

The journey will be closely followed by fans, athletes and endurance sports enthusiasts worldwide. Six West Aviation, an avid and proud supporter of endurance events such as the Kerry Way Ultra, will sponsor Jason in his endeavour to complete the monumental challenge. Kleos Aero will support Jason and his crew with comprehensive planning and coordination of all logistical aspects of the 4,000km journey.

More than just a physical feat, Jason’s journey is a testament to mental resilience, proving that with the right mindset, anything is possible.

Jason is not officially aiming for the 39-day record, but he is curious about how quickly he can complete the route and plans to push himself each day. He has allowed for 3 days during the run where he might need rest (due to injury or other issues).
