Updates: After an early start in Tulla this morning and a day of mixed weather again, the cyclist and their support team completed their trek to Kilkee.
Fortunately the rain cleared for the group’s arrival in Kilkee however the it was a windy and chilly finish in the West Clare town.
Well done to the cyclists, their support team and members of Clare Civil Defence who provided medical coverage.
GardaĂ from the Clare/Tipperary Division are excited to announce a fundraising event in aid of Little Blue Heroes in September 2024.
This week, Gardaà from across the counties will help transport “Teddy” from Carrick on Suir, Co Tipperary to Kilkee, Co Clare as they run and cycle with Teddy on their backs over three days.
Teddy Picnics will be held in towns along the route & we hope that children will join us for with their teddies to meet our “Teddy” and local GardaĂ.
All the runners and cyclists will be fundraising before & during the event to raise funds for the Little Blue Heroes.
Little Blue Heroes Foundation’s vision is to support families of children with serious illnesses in Ireland while empowering the lives of children through positive community engagement. Their mission is to provide practical and financial support to families of children who have serious illnesses in Ireland while granting the wish of the children it supports to become Honorary GardaĂ to empower the child and foster positive engagement with An Garda SĂochána.
Garda Gemma Maguire, FA office, Clonmel wanted to support and highlight the wonderful work of Little Blue Heroes Organisation. This idea has now developed to an event which will help children across the country, while allowing local children in Clare & Tipperary to participate in fun activities to highlight the cause.
The dates at this time are; 24th – 26th September with a route of
Day 1Â Â Â Â Carrick on Suir to Thurles, via Clonmel, Cahir, Cashel
Day 2Â Â Â Â Thurles to Tulla via Borrisoleigh, Nenagh, Portroe & Killaloe
Day 3Â Â Â Â Tulla to Kilkee via Ennis, Lissycasey, & Kilrush
Other activities will support the event;
– Name Teddy “competition” for children to give Teddy a name before they begin their journey
– School Colouring Competition to all schools/preschools across the counties prior to the event
– Teddy Social Media Journey highlighting the adventures of Teddy as they prepare for the event eg visiting Air Support Unit, Mounted Unit etc.
– Teddy Road Safety updates appropriate to the age range.
