Clare FM has been nominated in a record six categories in this years IMRO Radio Awards 2017.
The station was up against national and international broadcasters and has been nominated for more awards than any other local station in Ireland.
Clare FM General Manager Susan Murphy said: “A record number of nominations for us at this year’s IMRO awards. The most for any Local Station in the Country, they are hotly contested awards and in several categories, we are up against the BBC’s and RTE’s of this world. That’s what we want, it’s important to set a high bar.”
“We’re very proud of all the nominations but the nomination for Mark Lavan is particularly satisfying in the live sound category. He’s one of the best and most hardworking engineers in the business and it was sweet as he had no idea we were nominating him,” she added.
So it came as quite a surprise when he discovered what we’d done. Great credit must go to our Head of Operations and Programming Padraic Flaherty, who worked so hard on putting the nominations together. It makes no difference to win or lose at this stage, the fact that we are there in six categories representing Co Clare at the crème de la crème event in Irish Broadcasting means everything and is a testament to the amazing hard work and dedication of a great team here at the station,” Ms Murphy added.
The IMRO Radio Awards will take place at the Lyrath Hotel in Kilkenny on October 6th.
The categories in which the station has been nominated are:
Music Event: Fleadh Coverage
News Story: A tragedy in Kilkee
Documentary: Ballads and bullets in the Banner
